Virtual simulator of space systems

//Virtual simulator of space systems

Virtual simulator is a device which helps to analyzeand assess space systems functions and their control algorithms without any difficulty or hardware problems. Considering this issue and also countrys need to have access to such products, virtual simulator of space systems is designed and operated at space research Laboratory. This simulator, by the use of basic attitude models and also satellite transmission models has the capability to simulate transmission link of geosynchronous satellite and also the dynamic of satellite’s attitude in a virtual way. All the stages of designing and producing of this simulator is done completely in space research Laboratory at Khaje-Nasir-e-Din-Toosi University, and its first version, entitled “KhosroTous 100” , is represented by experts and professionals of space system.

Virtual simulator of space systems is made up of five major parts which are listed as: source package designing program, server program, program for earth station users, base models, graphic interface for resource package designing program in order to manage, define data and identify data report structure. Such data is used in order to packsending packages at OBDH unit and also to interpret received packages from the earth, server program, common data storage provider, and common services set. The software of earth station users is run at user terminals in earth stations and provides the opportunity of sending, receiving, saving and showing telemetric information, satellite’s attitude and also simulation trend control and related parameters adjustment. Models provide simulated information of different working and environmental conditions. Graphic interface provides three dimensional graphic representations of the satellite (space craft) while performing functional maneuvers and providing relations with satellite.

  • Real environment simulation of satellite”s orbital movement at geosynchronous orbit and sun synchronous orbit and lower heights

  • Real environment simulation of satellite”s orbital movement at geosynchronous orbit and sun synchronous orbit and lower heights

  • Immediate observation of attitude

  • identification elements function and controlling attitude such as that of solar sensors,Horizon Sensor

  • actuators of reaction wheels, momentum wheels and thrusters

  • Adjusting related parameters of simulation, simulation trend control, implementation and stopping of the models

  • Taking photographs of Terrain, and saving/sending them to earth stations of LEO orbital satellites

  • Sending and receiving different TT&C signals along with simulation of environmental noise effects on signal. Capability of evaluating and granting users who are being educated, especially by doing trainer’s missions
