Paper-Straw Rocket

Specific limitations due to Covid-19 Pandemic leads us to conduct series of knowledge based and fun activities for students in Space Research Laboratory.

Our outreach branch is a cooperation with Mahani observatory and Astronomy complex in Tehran, so we decided to execute the project at this center.

Our first proposed activity is “Paper-Straw Rocket“. It is a simple made, paper rocket that can be launched from a soda straw and possibilities to modify the design by students to make the rocket fly farther!

We received the main documents from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

In this regard, we prepared a Persian language version of the activity with reconstructed diagrams and tables. For the first move, on the second week of April, we targeted Mahdavi School students and this student manual and guidelines announced to all targeted students via deputy education of primary and secondary school degrees.

All interactions in different phases of this project define internet based for the sake of health.

Signing a memorandum of cooperation

on January 11, 2020, Signing a memorandum of cooperation between Space Research Laboratory and Mahani Observatory.

From the first one of the major goals of SRL was “IRAN Future Space Development”.Through the past decade  different activities and projects has been provided by SRL teams. We tried to help school students at every level of education, know space and think about it’s benefits for our planet.

It seems that having considerable experiences, specialized materials and facilities, know its time to expand this branch of SRL to a full time activity. So at the same time Mahani-Observatory have been founded by of the most active and caring SRL graduates and his wife.

Mahani-Observatory has the same targets as me, so we decided to combine our efforts and abilities to make space knowledge, training and set-ups more  convenient and accessible for IRAN space new generation.

Engineering Model (EM) Test

SSS-1 EM tests have been provided from 2-27 Dec, 2019 in Beihang University, Beijing/China. Three experts team from Iran and experts team from Pakistan together with system team experts from Beihang conducted 3 tests. The results of the tests show that SSS-1 is ready to move in to the next step for preparing the flight model.

SSS-1 ADCS Em test has been provided by SRL team

SSS-1 ADCS Em test has been provided by SRL team in Beihang University Beijing/China. SRL em version has passed all the planed test successfully.

Title: Optimal System Design of GEO Communication Satellite Under Uncertainty

Geo Communication Satellite are most practical and profitable satellites.They have defined with plenty of applications. The application interested in this dissertation are providing Broadcasting services for other Ground station.Design and  Manufacturing this kind of satellite is too expensive. In this thesis tried to achieve robust optimization design of this kind of satellite and compare it with case study. For this purpose a convenient method to design is submitted. Modeling this satellite is considered of two segment Bus, Payload. Payload have a responsibility to do a mission of sending and receiving of digital data that is known as Communication Payload. Bus includes of five subsystems (Propulsion, Power, ADCS, Thermal Control and Structure) that have responsibility to support Payload. Also by considering the fuel of launcher the costs of manufacturing, Maintenance and launch will be counted. Furthermore, in order to be more beneficial for multiobjective optimization method used. Therefore customer could select desired option between pareto-front solutions. The objectives is intended to use in this dissertation are increasing revenue and decreasing cost. At last, by considering Probability distribution (Uncertainty) of variables design Optimal and Robust design against their effects will be presents. The method used for satellite optimization design is Non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm and the ones used for sampling uncertainties are Monte Carlo Sampling. In this dissertation Results of Modeling evaluated with case study and less difference reported. Also by Optimization Design the optimized solution than the case study has been achieved. At last impression of uncertainty decreased by robust optimization design.

APSCO SSS-1 ADCS EM Test

Second group of SRL Student Small Satellite(SSS) projects’ team leave Tehran to Beijing today.
